KEWLOX & PEFC ?

Kewlox has been proudly PEFC certified since 2009, demonstrating our ongoing commitment to sustainable forest management. This certification guarantees that our wood-based furniture is manufactured in a way that respects the forests, following the 'one tree cut, one tree planted' rule for example.

But what is PEFC?

PEFC (Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification) is an international non-governmental organisation that promotes sustainable forest management through a system of forest certification. It aims to ensure that harvesting practices meet the highest environmental, social and economic standards.

PEFC's mission

PEFC's mission is to promote sustainable forest management by facilitating and promoting responsible choices to safeguard the future of our planet and future generations. They offer a system of labels enabling consumers to make conscious choices and professionals to prove their commitment.

Their waranties

Only products originating from PEFC-certified forests and then from an uninterrupted manufacturing and marketing chain of certified companies can carry the PEFC label.

Affixed to a wood or wood-based product (including paper and cardboard), the PEFC label certifies :

That the forest owner who planted the wood and the forest operator who harvested and transported this wood have implemented PEFC sustainable forest management practices.

That all the companies that subsequently processed and marketed the wood applied the PEFC traceability rules.

The PEFC label is therefore a guarantee to consumers that the product they are buying comes from responsible sources and that, through their purchase, they are contributing to sustainable forest management. Managing a forest sustainably means taking account of its environmental, social and economic dimensions. It's a mission that PEFC fulfils every day in its role as Guardian of the Forest Balance.

PEFC in 5 points

Demanding and committed: Involving the protection of forests and biodiversity, the fight against climate change, local adaptation and the involvement of all stakeholders, underlining consumer interest in eco-responsible products.

International recognition: Essential in public and private purchasing criteria, with added value recognised by major organisations and consumers.

Independence and Transparency: Guaranteed by third-party certification, ensuring the traceability of wood from the forest to the finished product.

Global availability: An extensive network of certified forests, forest owners and certified companies guarantees a sustainable, long-term source of wood.

Harmony with Nature: Meeting needs while preserving the natural balance and well-being of forest communities.
