In a beautiful belle étage house in Wilrijk, Margot Declerck lives with her husband Robbert and their son Rolf. Margot is a jewellery designer and goldsmith with a passion for modernist design and functional elegance. Her workspace reflects the same vision: a place where simplicity, light, and functionality come together.

Margot and Robbert fell for the clean lines and spacious feel of their home. They avoided major renovations but transformed the backyard into a cosy urban garden. “My studio overlooks the garden, so we replaced the closed door with a glass one. Now, natural light floods in, making the space feel open and connected.”

For her own workspace, Margot needed furniture that served a dual purpose: display and storage.

“Thanks to Kewlox’s modular system, I could tailor everything to my needs. Later, when I needed a piece for a wedding fair, I once again chose Kewlox: a light blue sideboard with a glass display case for my jewellery and three drawers for materials. I designed it to fit perfectly in our car, making it easy to transport to other fairs.”

Kewlox also makes an appearance in Rolf’s nursery.

“I had a white Kewlox cabinet in my own childhood bedroom, so it felt natural to continue the tradition. The room isn’t very large, so I played with different compartment heights and added a few red sliding doors for a playful touch.”

Choosing Kewlox for her studio was a logical decision.

“My father, a graphic designer, bought a white Kewlox cabinet in 1987 for his first office. Over the years, it moved with him to different locations and now sits in my studio. A testament to how timeless and durable this piece of furniture is.”

Margot’s studio exudes a serene, homey atmosphere, with soft colours that draw attention to her jewellery and encourage conversations with clients.
